I am no professional dancer, but I have managed to fool quite a few people when it comes to that issue. But only a few days ago, I found myself confessing to one of my dance teachers, that I realised, that I had pushed this body as far as it could possibly go, for someone who hadn't been trained since he/she were three, who wasn't naturally born flexible with the perfect turn-out, and who hadn't done their time at Urdang/Performance/Royal Ballet/English National Ballet...etc. I said a silent thanks to no one in particular every time I got into a split, or every time I did a high kick and the leg grazed the side of my face, but I'll never be able to touch the foot to the back of my head in a back attitude, or to leap up and hang in the air, but I can hold my own in an advance level dance class and I enjoy myself tremendously, and sometimes, just sometimes, that is enough.
